I had been wondering whether to invest in some proper 100% bedlinen for ages, so I decided to take the plunge a few months ago. The French Bedroom Company have a beautiful range, and I chose their Lisbon double duvet in powder pink. After living with 100% cotton for years I wasn’t sure about the slubby feel of the linen, and if it would feel cosy. But, having slept in it for the last few months, I can honestly say it’s super-snuggly and we actually want to buy more!
The idea of linen bedding is that it keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer – so it’s definitely being put to the test right now! This range is garment washed which gives it both a natural look and feel, other colour ways in the Lisbon range include slate grey, ivory, silver grey and blush pink. Size choices are double, King and Superking, and pillowcases come as a pair.
The prettiest mother of pearl buttons fasten the end, and feature on both the duvets and pillowcases.
How to look after your linen bedding
Did you know that you should never use fabric softener when you wash linen? It coats the fibres and starts to break them down over time.
Make sure you wash your bedding on its own, other bedding is fine, but no zips and buckles.
The more you wash your linen bedding, the softer it will get.
Don’t be tempted to tumble dry it – it will eventually break down the fibres. Pop it on the line in the summer months and hang flat over a drying rack near a radiator in the winter.
You don’t need to iron it, the creased look gives it a unique style if you ask me!
